My name is Edna Melody Yonazi, born and raised in Tanzania. I’m currently in my 2nd year of University pursuing my Bachelor degree in Economics and Finance at the Institute of Accountancy Arusha. I am very passionate about helping and empowering others. Having to know people’s lives, educating them on different matters and turning frowns into smiles is what I love.
Recently, I’ve also be drawn to matters regarding monetary management and investment so I’ve started reading books, listening to podcast and YouTube videos concerning that matter and I have learnt a lot so far.
I’d like to say that my biggest achievement in life is Time Management. I was a procrastinator and I’d fall behind in many things that I’d do. I then realised that time mismanagement would be an obstacle to the goals I had so I decided that I’d use alarms in my phone to keep track of time and I’d push myself out of procrastination whenever I was about to. During this period, I learnt how to prioritize my things so that I can stay focused on my goals without time being an obstacle.
I am currently the class representative of my class and the lead class representative at the Institute. My role as a class representative is to build a strong bridge between the school administration and the students in order to ensure a good learning environment. Also, my role as the lead class representative is to represent the rest of the class representatives to the school administration and the students’ government. I have been able to facilitate good communication between both parties while maintaining a peaceful environment.
Out of my studies, I play the piano and sketch but I also enjoy spending time with my family. I also usually set time to my own personal development and for devotion. I am a member of the Ambassadors’ club at church which among other things deals with service to the community through various ways. I also recently joined the rotaract club.
Since I’m very passionate about volunteering, I have volunteered at the Upendo Children’s cancer ward at Muhimbili National Hospital and at an animal shelter, Every little thing, in Dar Es Salaam. In addition to that, Edna is a singer as well.
My personal goal is to be positive and to stay focused which will help to widen my learning scope and expose me to more experience that will be advantageous to my future. Staying resilient is another personal goal that I have since it’s important to acknowledge strain and know how to overcome it in the correct manner. My professional goal is to develop better skills in order to be a poignant economist and Investment analyst and through this comprehension, I would love to accredit young females and the society in general to invest in order to attain financial liberty which will pioneer positive change and create a momentum to encourage sustainable development. And by this, the world’s most critical problems will be solved.
But also I would love to be an advocate of Innovation and use of new technologies which will expand productivity throughout the country and channel a path to greater economic growth.

Halima S. Msofe is a coach, strategist, resilient, and unapologetic reformist-feminist.
Currently, she is pursuing her BA in Project, Planning, Management and Community Development at the University of Dodoma. To date, she is the General secretary of the university and an active volunteer at SisiTanzania Organisation. Her passion to help girls who are deprived of their rights, coming from a harsh background herself; made her act on various initiatives to promotes girls rights through coaching and advocacy. For this she held various leadership positions at school and community level to bridge the gap of inequality.
Practicing Reformist-feminism she criticizes the individualistic and systematic, traditional and modern, conventions that discriminate against women. Thus, striving to present alternatives that improve women's situations, holding true that improvement within given structures is possible.Through employing the use of positive male characters to challenge those with discriminatory tendencies towards women. Halima foresees a happy ending for the societal subjugation of women.
Added to that, she is championing Adolescent and Youth Sexual Reproductive Health (AYSRH). Halima believes that “When sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) are realised, the impact on girls’ and women’s lives is significant, transformative and lasting.”
Born on 4th June 2002 in Arusha, Tanzania, Halima is the first of two children of Tanzanian parents Sheha Msuya and Said Msofe. Halima grew up to be fully aware of gender politics from her early childhood. In their culture, the male gender is dominant and preferred. While in school, the structure of the students Organisation only accomodated male students as head of departments and female as assistants only despite their varying leadership abilities. Some of the important requirements to promote girls education which included provision of quality toilet and wash facilities at school and affordable sanitary products where not taken seriously. As a result, Halima witnessed a large number of friends dropping out of school and turning to victims of early pregnancy. This watershed experience in her life encouraged her to stop being apologetic for her femininity.
Through her coaching, Halima has reached hundreds of girls providing them with awareness on their rights to promote gender equality, health and education to all. She deeply believes in the ability of human beings to make and remake themselves for the better. As a passion she possesses, Halima plans on planning more projects that will provide coaching and mentorship services to the society to promote gender equality and human rights at large.
